Toyota RAV4

The new 2006 RAV4 is a much larger vehicle
than before, with room for three seat rows

The interior gets a modern look and feel

The new RAV4 will be the third generation of the vehicle
which kick-started the market for sporty, compact SUVs 11
years ago.
Since that time it has become a consistent best-seller, topping
the European 4x4 sales charts for the past four years.
The new model promises significantly enhanced driving pleasure
and performance, improved quality, wider application of advanced
technology, greater interior space and a creative modular
interior design.
With its larger, sleeker exterior, more interior space, vastly
improved performance and a host of highly advanced technology,
the new RAV4 is almost ready to hit road.
The new RAV4 is longer than the previous generation, which
means more passenger space inside, a new seating design and
available third-row seating.
This setup allows for various fold-down seat configurations,
and a convenient under-floor rear cargo bin for storage (on
models without the third-row seat).
The cockpit has undergone a major facelift as well, and new
features have been added, such as a user-friendly instrument
panel with Optitron gauges, dual zone automatic air conditioning,
dual glove box, and an audio mini-jack port.
In addition to the 2.4-litre 4-cylinder engine, the new RAV4
can also be ordered with a 3.5-litre V6 in some territories
(American, and possibly Australia) for extra grunt.
Both the four-cylinder and the V6 will have available Electric
On-Demand 4WD and manual 4-wheel lock switch to ensure all-road
capability.
Like all Toyota SUVs, RAV4 will be equipped with an
enhanced version of Toyotas Vehicle Stability Control
(VSC), Traction Control, Anti-lock brakes with Electronic
Brake Force Distribution, and Brake Assist. RAV4 will also
offer optional driver and front passenger seat-mounted side,
and front- and second-row roll-sensing side curtain airbags.
The RAV4's ride and handling is significantly improved, thanks
to a new platform, which includes redesigned suspension, coupled
with a new electronic power-steering system.
