V8 Supercars are not just
brutish race
cars, they have a musical side as well
Adelaide,
Australia—
With the V8 Supercar season kicking off in earnest this weekend with
the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, we found a fitting way to ring in the 2008
championship.
The
unofficial Australian national anthem, Waltzing Matilda, has been
recreated with a high performance V8 engine.
This V8 symphony was created by a computer program fed into the engine control unit via a computer, which
precisely controls throttle input to create this mechanical melody.
It's funny to hear the engine almost come to a
halt during the lower notes of the song and also proves that V8
Supercar
teams are not without a sense of fun.
Arguably one of the most entertaining touring car
disciplines in the world, with multiple races per race meet and some of
the closest and grittiest battles you'll see on four wheels,
2008 is expected to be another massive war between Ford and Holden.
