Perisher Blue
Perisher
Blue could only be described as enormous with a massive 1250
hectares of skiable terrain serviced by 50 lifts comprised
of both surface and chairs. Since Perisher Blue is spread
over 7 peaks there are usually un-crowded areas just waiting
to be discovered and provides for some of the best skiing
in Australia.
Perisher Blue provides a wide range of activities with night
skiing, cross country trails, and a dedicated snowboard park.
The limited snowmaking sometimes means that the resort is
a little late in opening and you often can't link between
the different peaks unless almost all the lifts are open.
Perisher Blue can be accessed either by car or by the ski
tube at Bullocks Flat, which costs slightly more than a day
pass but saves on park entry fees and chain hire. Perisher
Valley, Smiggin Holes, and Guthega all offer on snow accommodation
however not all of it is ski in ski out.
Perisher Blue is located in the Kosciusko region near Thredbo
and Charlotte Pass. Perisher Blue is an easy 5.5 to 6 hour
drive from Sydney or 7 hours from Melbourne with most of the
drive being on Freeways.
