Selwyn Snow Fields
Selwyn
is a recently developed ski area that are geared to please
the masses. Selwyn targets the beginer and family markets,
which, surprisingly, constitutes the majority of potential
customers in the market.
Closer to Sydney than the other NSW resorts, Selwyn deal
with their slight lack of natural snow with an extensive snow
making system that covers over 80% of the resort.
With the ability to deliver consistant snow, Selwyn is not
just focused on Skiing and riding. rather they provide a variety
of experiences with a wide range of cross country trails,
snowplay areas and even a dedicated toboggan run - with its
own lift!
There is a definite family feel about the resort as this
is the niche they are trying to apeal to, to give you some
idea how commited to this they are, there website logo is
a happy family waving.
Selwyn Snowfields offers the best beginners skiing in NSW
with a wide range of beginners/early intermediate slopes to
choose from.
The main drawback for Selwyn is that there is no on snow accommodation
so you have to stay 15 minutes or more from the slopes and
drive in each day.
If you consider yourself an advanced skier then Selwyn will
be a bit light on challenging terrain, the black runs would
be marked blue anywhere else, but even at the intermediate
level Selwyn offers enough variety to keep you happy for a
day or two.
