Mt Stirling
Mt Stirling is a cross country ski area sitting right next
door to Mt Buller and offers over 60km of ski trails and one
of the major access points into the Australian Alpine National
Park.
Offering recreational activities such as bushwalking, camping,
four wheel tours, fishing, horse and camel riding, Stirling
continues to be a popular destination. Many schools also utilise
Stirling's unique characteristics for survival camps, camping
treks and general bush exposure.
Mt.Stirling was used as the site for a number of movies the
most notable of which being "The Man From Snowy River". Craig’s
Hut the cattleman’s hut from the movie is situated on the
eastern side of the mountain and is a popular tourist destination.
From here the views of the high country are spectacular. Stirling
run regular four wheel drive tours to Craig’s Hut throughout
the summer.
