Thredbo
Thredbo
boasts the longest vertical in Australia (672m) with the longest
run being 5.5km.
Of course this run winds down the mountain in broad sweeping
turns however, the above average length of runs at Thredbo
holds great appeal to many people with 2 express quads accessing
the "super trails".
Thredbo's super trails offer the longest continuous skiing
in Australia and are comparable to those on many famous foreign
resorts.
Thredbo has a lot going for it when skiing is available from
top to bottom. The only problem that Thredbo experiences is
that its low base elevation (only 1365m) results in the lower
parts of runs being slushy. To overcome the lack of natural
snow below 1500m, Thredbo has invested heavily in snowmaking
with 380 guns capable of covering 60 hectares almost at will.
This has allowed Thredbo to run top to bottom for most of
the season.
There is limited ski in ski out lodging at Thredbo but the
well laid out Village ensures that you will be on the slopes
with just a few minutes walk. Thredbo's nightlife is a definite
draw card, offering a diverse selection of restaurants and
nightspots to assist you in ruining your next days skiing.
After comparing Thredbo's nightlife to other resorts, you'll
agree that it is second to none.
Thredbo is located in the Kosciusko region near Perisher
Blue and Charlotte Pass and is an easy 5.5 to 6 hour drive
from Sydney or 7 hours from Melbourne with the majority of
the drive being on Freeways.
